Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics (Switch) - Game #39: Toy Boxing

Game #39 on our list of 51 Worldwide Classics is the fourth of the five toy sports and one of the quickest games in the collection if not the quickest, Toy Boxing! Unlike Toy Tennis, Golf and Bowling, this game does not play like its Wii Sports counterpart and instead plays more like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. In this game the goal is to keep hitting your opponent and pushing them backward to the edge of the ring while also guarding against their hits and maintaining your ground. The first player to push their opponent out of the ring wins. NOTE: This is not actually how boxing is played in real life. Real-life boxing is much more brutal and involves hitting your opponent until they can't stand up anymore.

There are four levels of CPU opponents to face in this game: Normal, Hard, Amazing, and Impossible, which all must be beaten in order. Beat the Impossible CPU to master the game. Also, the game records your fastest KO time, and each time you play it, you can unlock a piece of trivia about the game. There are five pieces of trivia about Toy Boxing:

1. KO is an abbreviation for "knock out", meaning to render your opponent unconscious.
2. Gloves are actually required to protect a boxer's hands, not their opponent's face.
3. The boxing bell is good for more than just signaling the end of a match. These types of bells used to be vital safety equipment in apartments and mines.
4. The boxing "ring" got its name because originally it was formed by people standing in a circle and holding hands.
5. A boxer's diet is very important. How much they weigh on weigh-in day determines which weight class they must enroll in.
