The LR3's First Attempt To Climb Mt Patterson

We make are first attempt to drive the LR3 to the summit of Mount Patterson in California. But unfortunately the LR3 had some problems along the way. First it start overheating shortly after getting on the trail, but we found we were able to control the temperature using my scan tool and manually engaging the fan and monitoring the coolant temperature. Most of the time it only over heated when we let it idle. Then we found the LR3 had no low end torque even in low range in 1st gear. We continued up the trail leading to the summit where we have a few small water crossings before the trail became narrow along the steep side of the mountain with a lot of loose rock about 3-4 inches in size. This made it hard to maintain traction. On about a 22 degree incline the LR3 finally lost traction and we couldn't go any further. We made it to the 8,600ft mark, Mt Patterson's summit is at 11.673ft. Due to the issues we were having with the Land Rover, I decided not to push it, so we backed down the trail about 100ft to turn around. This is when I realized there is something wrong with the brakes, they could not hold the LR3 when in reverse. I had to keep bumping it back and forth into to neutral to control it. Once we turned around, we continued back down the mountain until we found a nice place to have a quick lunch before returning home. Even though we didn't make it to the summit we all had fun and are already looking forward to our next attempt.
