Today Twitter was hacked, and thousands of high profile accounts began tweeting a bitcoin scam that amassed over $100k.

What if instead of tweeting a scam, they decided to leak everyone's DMs? People share private things on twitter all the time, like credit card details, home addresses, nude photos.

This hack is just the beginning of what is likely to become a crisis in digital identity management. Time to start using e2ee services for messaging instead. Protect yourself, because these platforms won't.
