AV1611HOUR - Pastor Nelson Turner - a sermon firmly established on the truth of the word of God (as found for English speaking people of this time in the King James Bible -- not in the corrupt modern versions based on the Alexandrian texts) concerning the unique petition of afflicted (suffering in the flesh) sinners to the Lord God regarding plagues of the heart:
1 Kings 8:37-39 "If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;
What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men..."
This doctrinal, teaching message concerns SIN and each man's responsibility for his own sin as well as his complicity in the sin of his nation:
ROMANS 1:28-32 "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
Pastor Turner invites the listener to examine himself and recognize the horror of sin of which he is guilty apart from the grace of God having been imparted in the New Birth to cleanse him from guilt (and the punishment of death for sin) by virtue of having been cleansed by the washing of the word of God and covered by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ poured forth to save His people from their sins.
Much is here expounded for the edification of the faithful and as a witness against the hard of heart, utterly reprobate, who will not seek God and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
A significant portion of the sermon is directed to giving the listener an understanding of sin in terms of the plague of LEPROSY. The horrors of this disease and the certain doom of those thus plagued throughout human history subsequent to man's fall are illustrative of the effect of sin in all unregenerate mankind and a reminder of the mercies granted by the compassionate Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, in condescending to cleanse us -- who by His Father's calling -- know to call upon Him to heal us from the rotting condition in which we were found before He came to visit us. All praise and thanksgiving to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ten lepers were cleansed. We know not what happened to nine sent by the Lord to fulfill the Law of Moses regarding those cleansed of leprosy. We do know that one returned to gives thanks and praise and worship to the Lord Jesus Christ. He recognized in the person of the Lord, our High Priest, the One able fully to restore all things and to offer sacrifice by which the Father is satisfied and forgiving of all debt.
