Freightliner Cascadia with Detroit Diesel 12V 71T 630 engine pt1 #shorts

Fancy swapping out the engine of your standard truck in SCS Software's American Truck Simulator?

Here's part 1/2 letting you hear what a modern Freightline Cascadia sounds like when fitted with a Detroit Diesel 12V-71T making 630hp.

My father worked at a garage where their truck recovery, erm, truck had this same engine, and it rattled the building whenever it was started. The 'revvy' idle is normal - this is a 2-stroke diesel, and it loves to visit the top-end of the range. In fact, with the same Eaton 18sp gearbox as the previous ~shorts video (in that one using a CAT 3408), the 12v-71T normally drives a gear below the big V8s - it doesn't even think of changing up to 18th until the truck is going over about 75mph, whereas the V8s are already there by 65-ish...
