Cute little dog

In this world, a man's best friend may turn against him and become his enemy; The children he nurtures with affection may become unfaithful and unfilial; Those to whom we are most near and dear, those whom we trust with all our happiness and our good name, may abandon loyalty and become rebellious. The money a man has may be lost; it may fly away when he needs it most. A man's reputation can be ruined in an ill-considered moment. Those who are accustomed to fall on their knees and fall in adulation at our success may be the first to throw the stone of malice when the cloud of failure has fallen upon our heads.

The only unselfish friend a man has in this selfish world, the only one who never deserts him, the only one who never proves ungrateful, is his dog. A dog stands by his master in riches and in poverty, in sickness and in health. He would lie by his master's side regardless of the cold ground, the cold wind and the heavy snow, if only he could be near him. He licks his master's hand and the wounds of his resistance to the cold world, even when he has nothing to feed him. Even if the master is a beggar, it guards him like a prince. When all his friends turned away, he did not look back. When riches vanish and reputation is lost, its love for its master remains as constant as the sun in its orbit in the sky. If, by some twist of fate, his master becomes a homeless wanderer, the faithful dog wants nothing more than to accompany him in trouble, to fight against his enemies. When the common end of all things comes, and death takes his master's life, and the body is buried in the cold ground, the noble dog stands guard alone by the grave, though all his friends and relatives go their separate ways. It leans its head between its feet, and though its eyes are full of sorrow, it guards the graveyard wisely and faithfully until death.
