When People Harden Their Hearts Toward Him

Mark 3: 1-7

What The Religious Leaders Did In Worship Service:

-They used a fellow bother as bait to set a trap.

-They had no love or compassion for the fellow man.

-They did not come to worship or learn, they came to set up Jesus.

What Jesus Did In The Worship Service:

-He blessed a man and set him free.

-He had compassion on less fortunate person.

-He chose to teach and give an opportunity for repentance.

How We Harden Our Hearts Towards The Lord:

We Lack Understanding.

Mark 8:1717Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in?

We Allow Bitterness and Resentment Residence In Our Hearts.

Ephesians 4:31-32, Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

We Isolate From Others and The Lord

Genesis 4:5b-6, This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected. 6“Why are you so angry?” the LORD asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? 7You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”

We Refuse To Forgive Others

Matthew 6:14-15, 14“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

We Shut Down and Power Off

We Allow Pride To Set In And Make All Of Our Choices Daniel 5:20

Daniel 5:20, But when his heart and mind were puffed up with arrogance, he was brought down from his royal throne and stripped of his glory.

We Refuse To Serve In God’s House and Refuse To Be Served

Zechariah 7:8-14, 8Then this message came to Zechariah from the LORD: 9“This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. 10Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other. 11“Your ancestors refused to listen to this message. They stubbornly turned away and put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. 12They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the LORD of Heaven’s Armies was so angry with them. 13“Since they refused to listen when I called to them, I would not listen when they called to me, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. 14As with a whirlwind, I scattered them among the distant nations, where they lived as strangers. Their land became so desolate that no one even traveled through it. They turned their pleasant land into a desert.”
