Three primary forms of Sri Lankan classical dance exists
the Hill Country's Uda Rata Natum, a form of Kandyan dance;
the Pahatha Rata Natum(low country dances of the southern plains).
Dances of Sabaragamuwa, also known as Sabaragamuwa Natum.
The previous royal capital of Sri Lanka, Kandy, which is located around 120 kilometers from the current capital, Colombo, gave its name to the Kandyan dance. Today, this style is regarded as Sri Lanka's classical dance. It is referred to as pure dance (nrtta) in Sanskrit, and it has a highly developed "tala" (rhythm) system that is given by "thalampataa" cymbals. The ves, naiyandi, uddekki, pantheru, and vannams are the five different sorts.
The body movements of the three classical dance disciplines are different from one another.
