In the original way to squat the legs are shoulder-width apart or slightly wider and squat to the point where the thighs are parallel to the floor.

You will work muscles during squats. The hips and buttocks, the gluteus maximus, minimus and medius muscles, and semitendinosus and semimembranosus muscles of the thigh. Adductors, hip flexors, calf muscles, rectus abdominal muscle, oblique abdominal muscles, transverse abdominal muscles, and spinal erectors. Actually, half of the body is involved in this exercise.
