Armor of God – The Breastplate of Righteousness
Ephesians 6: 10-18; Romans 3: 10-12; Psalm 14: 1-3; Psalm 53: 1-3; Isaiah 59: 17

• INTRODUCTION: Hey Fathom Church!
• We are Continuing in our Sermon Series on “The Armor of God”
• How many of you will declare along with me this morning: ‘Greater is HE that is within me, than he that is in the world?’ {1 John 4:4} Who is in us? The “GREAT ONE”
• In this series we’re talking about us Defeating the Enemy rather than the Enemy Defeating us. Church --- we’ve COME TOO FAR --- to BE DEFEATED TODAY!
• V#12: ‘We wrestle against powers, against principalities, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.’ If we were to stop at verse 12 it would bring fear into our hearts for what Paul describes there are some very evil forces coming against us.
• Strong DEMONIC FORCES are coming against our church & its ministry.
• Strong DEMONIC FORCES are coming against our homes & our families & our children..
• Strong DEMONIC FORCES are coming against us as an individual & against our soul & against our health & against our finances & against our happiness & against our sound minds
• But we’re not stopping there. Paul goes on to say that we can put on the whole armor of GOD & with that armor we can STAND against the wiles of the devil. Praise the LORD!

Ephesians 6: 10-18: The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

I. Armor of God – Why Armor? (Isaiah 59: 17 He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.)
A. A battle is being waged and we are a part of it whether we like it or not.
1. We can either be equipped soldiers or victims of the enemy
2. God loves us and has equipped us if we would wear His Armor

2. The Belt is the foundation (Absolute Truth)

II. Armor of God – What is Righteousness? (Holiness – God’s Perfect Standard)
A. RIGHTEOUSNESS: means to “Be in a Right Standing with GOD.”
B. RIGHTEOUSNESS: means to “Be in a Right Relationship with GOD.”
1. Basket Ball Hoops are 10’ High

III. Armor of God – Why the Breastplate?
A. Proverbs 4: 23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
1. Oh how our enemy would like to strike our heart!

IV. Armor of God – How do I wear it?
A. Righteousness Imputed onto You! ( Justification )
1. 2 Corinthians 5: 17, 21 “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. … 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
B. Righteousness Exhibited Through you! (Sanctification – Discipleship)
1. Matthew 5: 16,20 “16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. … 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
a. Without Jesus – Right living is just “Wrongness – Management”
