Armor of God – The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
Ephesians 6: 10-18

o GOD IS VICTORIOUS AND HAS GIVEN US HIS ARMOR!
• BELT OF TRUTH – Holds it all together and is the foundation of our defense (Absolute Truth)
• BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS – Both Christ Righteousness imputed on us & lived out in our lives!

Ephesians 6: 10-18: The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your FEET fitted with the readiness that comes from THE GOSPEL OF PEACE. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

I. Armor of God – Why Armor? The battle is Spiritual!
A. A battle is being waged and we are a part of it whether we like it or not.
1. Three ways Satan would Love to disrupt you:
a. Paralyze and pacify you!
b. Blow your witness (big unrepentant sin)!
c. Destroy your family!

2. Scripture:
a. Ephesians 4: 27 “and give no opportunity to the devil.”
b. 1 John 2: 16 “For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.”

II. Armor of God – Why the Readiness of the Feet?
1. Anyone have any experiences where the wrong shoes caused big problems???
2. I have many shoes (yardwork, exercise, Dress, convenience, Beach, hiking, etc)

3. Roman Soldiers Had Shoes:
a. A very tough Leather Sandal
i. Strong and secure – Pitfall Spike Traps
b. Tightly bound
i. So it will not come lose
c. Nails hammered out the bottom (like cleats)
i. Traction – “Stand firm”

III. Armor of God – What is The Gospel?
A. GOSPEL = GOOD NEWS
1. Good news requires bad news: SIN (Even “Free Ice Cream”)
a. We are all sinners from Adam onward - Romans 3:23 “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
b. Romans 6: 23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ or Lord.”

2. Jesus came to fix it!
a. Romans 5: 8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

3. We receive the Good news by believing! (FAITH)
a. John 3: 16 & Ephesians 2: 8-9
b. Romans 10: 9-15 “9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” [Joel 2: 32; Acts 2: 21] 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
i. Demonic Beings are not Omniscient (They can’t read your thoughts. Cry out to God – CALL ON HIS NAME).

4. The Result of the Good News:
a. Romans 5: 1 has this wonderful message, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Through Jesus Christ we can have a relationship of peace with God.
b. Romans 8: 1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
c. Romans 8: 38-39
