If you've noticed a pattern in your romantic relationships, you might want to learn about the attachment theory, or more specifically, about the four attachment styles. According to British psychiatrist and psychotherapist John Bowlby, attachment types tend to emerge early in life and frequently stay stable. They can be secure or insecure.

Most people aren't aware of how childhood affects life and thus, end up in receptive, unhealthy, and emotionally challenging relationships. And while it's quite normal to recognize features of different attachment styles in past relationships, they can change with major life events or even with different partners.

Nonetheless, identifying unhealthy behaviors will help you understand what you might need to work on in order to improve your love life.
