Rare Sturmpanzer III - Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B - footage.

The sIG-33B or Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B or Sturmpanzer III for short was a German self-propelled heavy assault gun used during WWII.

In July 1941 Alkett was ordered to convert a dozen StuG III Ausf. E chassis to fit the sIG 33/1 infantry gun, it could carrier 30 rounds and had A MG 34 machine-gun fitted in a kugelblende (ball mount).
These vehicles were finished in December 1941, but were never issued to any units and only 12 were deployed to Stalingrad, in fall 1942 for close infantry support.

Production was stopped after only 24 were produced and they were in service until 1944, but it's actual not known if any even serviced until then.
Some sources say that five remained in service in September 1944.
