Take this pepper and dry it!

Lori Fiechter with yet more peppers! This time, I had Stan haul down the dehydrator. I thought the thin-skinned habanadas and sweet habaneros would dry quickly. I thought wrong! It still took nearly 12 hours at 135 degrees. Now I have them stored in a Fido jar (same jar I use for fermenting) on top of the freezer, next to the paper bags full of ground cherries that need to be hulled. Out of sight, out of mind! Oh, yeah.

Stan is still picking and shelling lima beans every few days--we have a total of 84 bags now with a heaping cup in each. I worked every day this past week and completely forgot about the elderberries and zucchini. The next major harvest will be sweet potatoes. That could be as early as two weeks from now; whenever the leaves start turning yellow.
