The Diefenbaker Pledge: "I am a Canadian, a free Canadian"

Still today, the words of Canada's beloved 13th Prime Minister, John. G Diefenbaker, "I am Canadian, a free Canadian" are quick to bring a tear to the eye upon listening to them. These words are as close as we can get to a "Canadian Pledge." Their truth and importance stand forever. They read:

"I am a Canadian, a free Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship in my own way, free to stand for what I think right, free to oppose what I believe wrong, free to choose those who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom I pledge to uphold for myself and all mankind.” – John Diefenbaker

We are grateful for his legacy.
