I am very much looking forward to connecting with you and seeing how I can support your goals.
📍 It's time to take a step into the beautiful neighborhood of Sky Ranch in Santee, CA in the premiere of San Diego Realtor Kimo Quance's new series: Your Neighborhood.
Little do most know, the history of settlers in East County can be dated back to almost twelve-thousand years ago. This is where a group of the Native American people called the Kumeyaay first settled on the western banks of what is the present day San Diego River. In fact, it was not until the late nineteenth century that any new settlers came to purchase and occupy the land.
George A. Cowles (Kohls) you heard it right “Kohls” not “Cowles,” a prominent rancher and businessman, purchased over 4,000 acres of the land to develop a vineyard. Here he also introduced pomegranate and magnolia trees, and later a train station that coined the area to newcomers as Cowleston. George and his wife Jennie operated Cowleston and even landed a deal with California Southern Railroad. Shortly after however, George passed in 1887, and left the entirety of his estate, which today would be appraised around fifteen million dollars, to his wife.
After his death, his widow remarried a real estate developer, Milton Santee. Although most of the town was renamed after Santee, the infamous Cowles Mountain stayed labeled as his own. Many make the 1594 foot summit for it’s one of a kind 360 degree views of San Diego County. With it being the highest peak in all of the county, many dream just to have a sliver of the views that it encapsulates from their own home. In 2007, home developers made that dream a reality with the creation of Sky Ranch.
Sky Ranch is a neighborhood development located on the south east corner of Santee. It’s unique layout on the top of a hillside gives homeowners the privacy many seek and the best views in town. The neighborhood offers a variety of condos, townhouses, lofts, and single family homes in its association. Although it is positioned on a pair of Santee’s borders, Sky Ranch is surrounded by the many necessities from its native and neighboring cities. Properties can range anywhere from 2-6 bedrooms, 3-5 baths, on lots that can be up to an acre large. Sky Ranch offers that neighborhood and communal feel with the well kept Sky Ranch Park.
The park not only provides a playground for neighborhood kids to meet and play safely, but it also offers picnic shelters with tables and BBQ’s to host family events and get togethers with other neighbors.
The circumference surrounding Sky Ranch seems to check off everyone’s wants and needs. Sky Ranch’s unique placement offers answers to all unique necessities of a modern family.
Pepper Drive School is just a drive down the hill to the northern tip of El Cajon. Within minutes you can drop off the kids and be back to start your morning. Although the K-8 has been open for four decades, a recent remodel has the public school looking better than ever.
Senior care today is more important than ever. Whether your loved ones are hitting the retirement age, have assisted living needs, or need special memory care, Lantern Crest offers a premier senior living community just next door to Sky Ranch. The 34 acre multi-level facility with panoramic views offers the help you may need with your loved ones. With its quick accessibility from Sky Ranch, you can be there in a drop of a hat, while also being able to maintain the space and independence that both parties may require.
One of the best views that Sky Ranch has to offer, is the variety of aircraft coming in and out of Gillespie Field. The air strip was initially constructed as a Marine Corps parachutist facility in 1942, named after Marine Lieutenant Archibald H. Gillespie. The airport was later granted to San Diego County and has expanded to house the law enforcement aviation section and the San Diego Aerospace museum.
Furthermore, on the western part of the airport, you are able to dine in at the Gillespie Field Café while getting a chance to watch planes taxiing and taking off from the air strip.
Sky Ranch continues to grow, and Santee’s continued urbanization provides a platform for almost any scenario of the modern family.
