This Week: Secretary Bernhardt designates the Alfred Daniel King, Sr. House to the African American Civil Rights Network; the site of the first major Union victory in the Civil War is now the 421st unit of the National Park System; Interior transfers ownership of several Utah water facilities to private hands; thanks to conservation efforts the status of the red-cockaded woodpecker is proposed to be downlisted or even delisted from the endangered species list; the Deputy Secretary and Fish and Wildlife Director tour wildlife refuges in support of the Trump Administration’s efforts to secure the southern border and protect the environment; an Ohio art professor’s idea to create paint pigment from acid mine drainage has already lead to art, but it could also lead to more local jobs and cleaner water; after fifty years two historic paintings are back home at Interior, public lands are fee free for National Public Lands Day, and a Hawaiian moon bow shines in our social media Picture of the Week!
