Dear Pastor Bob: Can the atmosphere of a “healing” or “miracle” service trick you into believing you have been healed? Some Churches will create a certain kind of mood and atmosphere in an attempt to get people “in the mood” to worship. They will use special music and special lighting to accomplish this. They will report things like, “I really could feel the Spirit moving”. Charismatics and Pentecostals will tell you the reason they do this is because a traditional-style worship service cannot produce the same results. Is this a result of the moody atmosphere?  Or, does the Holy Spirit really move more in these types of worship settings?  Many will attend a healing service and report being healed during the service.  They will say they felt really “pumped up” and “really good”, so they must have been healed.  But were they truly healed? Many of these same people will report not feeling quite as pumped up or healed the next day, or the days following.  They are back to square one once the service is over with.
