China’s capital Beijing hosts 14th BRICS Summit where President Xi encouraged business leaders to contribute to open, innovative, and shared development. Brazil, Russia, India, China initially formed BRIC in 2009, South Africa joined in 2010. BRICS countries represent approximately 40% of global population, accounting for about 25% of global economy.

In this edition of Spotlight, Press TV and panelists Richard Black representative of The Schiller Institute to UN, New York, from Hackensack, New Jersey, and John Ross senior fellow of Chongyang Institute of Renmin University from London look at BRICS role in world economy and whether the US and the West’s hostile approach and policies against some of the BRICS member states, like Russia and China, will backfire on them amidst the Russia-Ukraine war.
