HEALTH HACKS, Ep. #014: Runners Beware of Heat Exhaustion

- Both my coworker Keenan and I suffered from heat exhaustion on an empty stomach the past two weeks. It's important to not just hydrate but to ensure your body has enough caloric energy to be able to perform the aerobic exercise you are going to attempt. Those long runs are like a car. Don't put fuel in your body, you're going to run out of gas. Also think about the food you've been eating the past several days. Is it junk food? Junk food in your body is gas to go, but it's like bad oil under the hood. You won't be able to perform as well as proper nutrients would carry you through. Youth will get you through to some degree, but we don't want to see you faint or die due to a drop in blood pressure while running in the heat.
