Who is Braxton Jones - Bears Now host Harrison Graham explains who Chicago’s starting LT is:
- Jones was a 2017 2-Star Recruit per 247Sports. Jones went to Murray High School in Salt Lake City and only received 1 scholarship offer - Southern Utah.
- Jones attended Southern Utah which isn’t even a good FCS program. Since 2018, Southern Utah has gone an abysmal 6-34 including 1-10 during the 2021 season.
- Jones received an invite to the NFL Draft Combine and tested very well. He had the measurables that Bears’ GM Ryan Poles likes in his offensive linemen and showed off the athleticism and mobility in addition to pretty good strength.
- Bears drafted Braxton Jones with the #168 overall pick in the 5th round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Jones became the first offensive lineman Chicago drafted which also included Zach Thomas, Doug Kramer and Ja’Tyre Carter.
- Matt Eberflus and the Bears coaching staff elevated Jones to the team’s starting left tackle during the final week of OTAs and for the 3 practices during mandatory minicamp. Harrison believes that Jones enters Bears training camp as the team’s starting left tackle.
