According to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton is unlikely to be on the team’s roster come the start of the season.

There have been rumors since April about the Giants shopping the former 5th round pick, considering that he would be the 5th man in their receiving group.

The Giants drafted Kadarius Toney in the 1st round last season, they then added Wan’Dale Robinson in the 2nd round of this year’s draft.

Not to mention the big free agent add from 2021, Kenny Golladay, as well as the return of veteran Sterling Shepard.

The only thing that might ultimately save Slayton’s career in New York might be the injury history of this wide receiver group.

Which hasn’t be great.

Slayton was a home run hitter as a rookie in 2019, averaging 15.4 yards per reception while totaling 8 receiving touchdowns and a drop percentage of just 2.4%.

But he hasn’t quite taken the next step.

He had a career high 10.3% drop percentage last season while scoring just twice.
