Oct 2020. Join us for a fun land management and fall food plot update on this 53 acre Illinois parcel that I have been working on all year with Curtis Rogers, from Heartland deer management and with the owner, Doug, to really change and improve this parcel to not only improve the real estate value of this land, but also to improve the wildlife and deer hunting habitat, but not just for the deer, ALL wildlife will benefit from this fantastic new field and food plot, as well as a strategically placed watering hole, including deer, rabbits, raccoons, turkeys and more. In today's land management update episode we'll take a quite look back at the 'before' look of this new L shaped food plot when we began with the Bobcat T650 CTL skid steer and Blue Diamond severe duty cutter to clear this entire area which used to be a jungle, then I brought the Bobcat e42 mini excavator in to pull many of the autumn olive (aka Russian Olives) bushes and small trees with the excavtor, then I brought in the Kioti RX7320 tractor and disc chisel plow to work up the very rough ground, which still had some stumps and roots in it. After all of this, I then worked with Curtis Rogers from Heartland deer management services of Southern Illinois to plant a late fall food plot, even though the ground was very rough, we knew it could grow as long as we got some good moisture on the plot. Sure enough we got a good rain the very night after planting this plant and well.... Now you will see the results! We'll take a few look backs at this project but we will also be using some very recent youth deer hunting footage to show you just how nice the food plots have come in! And speaking of the youth deer hunt 2020, here the link to the full deer hunt video and the very first success for this young man's biggest buck reaping the rewards from this land management project!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUKmKrm3Y5w
