Like some cities, Hong Kong has a typhoon season, which normally occurs in June to September. Typhoon warning is indicated by typhoon signal numbers, namely 1, 3, 8 and 10.
Typhoon signal 1 and 3 are warning signals with business as usual. Typhoon 8 and 10 indicate that the typhoon is very close to Hong Kong. In such situation businesses and public transportation will cease operations.
