Value Investing Vs Growth Investing

Value Investing In Stocks

How to tell if you are stuck in the “VALUE” mindset

You only invest if Profit to Earnings Ratio’s fall between and average of the dividends aristocrats
You only invest in aristocrat dividends stocks ( companies who have paid and increased dividends for the last 25 years. )
You Worship and Quote Daily Warren Buffet and Refuse to take any other investors advise.

Here is a fun chart of the SPY salt n peppa 500 and My Buffets Birkshire Hathaway, which aint all that bad eh?
PE ratio of SnP500 is currently 34.92 PE ratio of Bershire is 21.79

Keep in mind BerkShire is NOT 100% chosen stocks by the stock Yoda himself, and not all are considered Value stocks that they place money in.

Did you know they also own businesses? The company wholly owns GEICO, Duracell, Dairy Queen, BNSF, Lubrizol, Fruit of the Loom, Helzberg Diamonds, Long & Foster, FlightSafety International, Pampered Chef, Forest River and NetJets, and also owns 38.6% of Pilot Flying J;[4] and significant minority holdings in public companies Kraft Heinz Company (26.7%), American Express (17.6%), Wells Fargo (9.9%), The Coca-Cola Company (9.32%), Bank of America (11.5%), Apple (5.4%)[5] and Barrick Gold.[6] Beginning in 2016, the company acquired large holdings in the major US airline carriers, namely United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and American Airlines[7] but sold all of its airline holdings early in 2020.[8] Berkshire Hathaway has averaged an annual growth in book value of 19.0% to its shareholders since 1965 (compared to 9.7% from the S&P 500 with dividends included for the same period), while employing large amounts of capital, and minimal debt.[9]

Other Characteristics of Value Stocks

Super strong, proven mechanics proven through multiple fiscal years.
CashFlow Is KING
MIGHT carry less sometimes Perceived “risk” vs other investments
On on a usual “conservative, mild” sale like lets say 2-6% Off

Good businesses, Run by good people, at reasonable prices

Cons of Value Stocks?

They Can still tanks like others more “risky” stocks
Many people are proud when they loose money compared to real 1980s/1990’s, non Luxury Inflation

Many get stale because of to much “risk” in changing the way things used to be
Dividends keep growth dismal
Coal suppression/ESG/Green could hurt value stocks like RailRoads, Oil

When Do You Buy Value Stocks?

When someone sues them over coffee being to hott

When a “never gonna go anywhere” lawsuit gets brought up on MSNBC

When you Are SUPER long a company that you deem moated and bullet proof

How About Some Examples Of Value Stocks

Coca-Cola Co KO P/E 26.2

Union Pacific Trains UNP 23.98

United Airlines UAL P/E Ratio 9.85

Growth Investing = Busineiss Life Cycles.. That Never End?

20% or more expected growth in the next year

Always Adding More Excited Avenues And Products

But Why Are Growth Stocks Always Out Performing “value” Investing Stonks?

Because They Fill In The COOL Factor

AND Are So Exciting!

Think FANG Stocks

Amazon AMZN P/E Ratio 123

Chipotle Mexican Grill CMG 160 P/E Ratio

Warren Buffet said:

growth has been detrimental to the airline business, more and more capital has been put into it with inadequate returns, but has been great companies like See’s Candies because it requires relatively incremental investment to sell 2 pounds more of candy
