Part two:
The lateral squat walk with plate press provides unique stability and muscle-coordination related demands. The movement forces the participant to remain in a full-squat position while challenging the frontal plane musculature of the hips and trunk as well as core stabilizers. Maintaining the hip-flexed position while taking wide steps in the frontal plane will force notable activation of the short adductors. The press component challenges central stabilizers as the load is driven away from the center of gravity. The exercise may be used in various capacities such as part of a functional circuit aimed at improving multi-planar movement efficiency, or as part of a dynamic warm-up prior to applicable sport activities or practice.
