Noam Chomsky Destroyed: Capitalism vs Socialism—Chomsky on Libertarianism
In this video on Noam Chomsky Destroyed I cover the argument comparing capitalism vs socialism with regards to Chomsky on Libertarianism. As I have argued numerous times before, socialism cannot be libertarian. Many of the arguments Noam Chomsky destroyed were his own making baseless claims against capitalism.
As always, you will always find socialists making baseless claims and assertions with no historical examples to back up what they claim. This is no different to Chomsky on Libertarianism. His defence of government is also rather quite contradictory given the fact he claims to be a Libertarian Socialist, what he ignores is the fact the problems in the economy have been created via government intervention in the economy, therefore, the government is to blame.
Noam Chomsky erroneously conflates capitalism as being this corporatist system we live under today, but ignores the fact that it was all due to the socialist government interventionism that led to this very problem in the first place, a prime example being the banking crisis or Great Depression. It's all well trying to pin the blame off onto capitalism, but if one doesn't understand what capitalism is to begin with their argument is self-defeating.
As I've argued numerous times before, socialism creates problems in the economy and then socialists attempt to project the blame off onto capitalism and Noam Chomsky is no different on this front. You could see this from his quotes on Venezuela during its honeymoon phase and after.
I didn't go too much into depth on the lunacy of his argument claiming that capitalism with private individual ownership in the free market is somehow totalitarian, but one thing I would like to add is that not only do people have the choice to work for another company or for themselves, competition and business reputation forces private companies to maintain high standards. Whilst there is no such thing as an economy getting completely rid of exploitation or corruption, it is business competition and reputation, as well as consumer choice that minimises these problems, the same thing cannot be said for governments intervention that destroys competition that ends up giving rise to oligopolies, cartels and monopolies.
Again, Noam Chomsky destroyed his own argument with his self-defeating baseless claims that capitalism somehow results in corporations dominating the marketplace, what he is in fact describing is corporatism, not capitalism and as I've argued, it is through the government's interference in the market through government regulation that creates these problems, not because a market is free from government intervention.
It is rather rich for a socialist to talk about monopolistic power, corruption and slavery, in practice, that is all his socialism has ever been. Every example, and as I left out, of libertarian socialism, it ended in terror, whether it was the examples of the Paris Commune, Catalonia in the 1930s or Ukraine "supposed" free territory, each one of them turned to dictatorship, no different to the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.
Anyone who claims applying for a job and consensually agreeing by contract to work for a private company is totalitarianism cannot be taken seriously even by the slightest, if anyone does, then that tells you a lot about those type of people, they're as bad as Chomsky on Libertarianism.
