"Gem O’Reilly’s latest album Fire is the fourth of her original releases and was written while shielding in lockdown. The album reflects on a break up, a pandemic, a lockdown, a move, but most importantly it is an inspirational set of original songs based around keeping your ‘fire’, your spark, even when life throws many obstacles in your way. The album contains tracks like Silent Suffering and Four Walls which reflects on the way the pandemic has impacted society in 2020.”
Biography:
Gem O’Reilly is a talented country-pop singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom. At just fifteen years old she participated in the nationwide music competition Live and Unsigned and it was there that her knack for writing solid melodic country pop tunes was recognised by Alex Baker of Kerrang! Radio.
That then lead Gem onto progressing as a songwriter and being signed at seventeen years old to Walled City Records, a record label created by Glee star, Damian McGinty. With this label Gem released her first EP, Teenager, and hit number seven in the iTunes country charts.
From that point on Gem’s music career continued to rise as well-known names like Cole Page and Mike Sweeney requested to write and perform alongside Gem. This resulted in Gem performing in some of the North West’s most prestigious venues including The 02 Academy and The Lowry Theatre. Gem has supported famous names such as Jason Manford and Catfish And The Bottlemen. She has also recorded music with managers of The Courteeners.
Her second album, I Have Found Me, was released independently and recorded under the management of the famous Judd Lander. This album saw the release of Gem’s first music video and reached national and regional radio with BBC Radio dubbing Gem as “The British Taylor Swift”.
Gem’s third and latest album, Love Potion represents a maturity in her artistic writing, playing out original songs of love and growing up. Songs like My Last Goodbye represent letting go of a past relationship and moving on with life. Gem recorded this album featuring Noah Bachoco in Invincible and composed the entirety of the music throughout. She describes it as “A reflection of a first love, the heights and falls and the lessons learnt.” This album was recorded with well-known music producers Peter Ross and Andy Ross. Now Gem performs at some of the biggest venues in the country including UK Parliament.
Her latest album is available now across iTunes, Spotify and Amazon Music.
Gem will be releasing her fourth album that she wrote in lockdown ‘Fire' containing ten tracks in 2021.
