Bullets and Bullet Casings found in the Living Room. In this episode Dan Hennen and Catherine Michele join us to discuss pages 37-41 of the Living Room chapter of my book, The Gray Stage. We discuss the bullets and bullet casings found in the living room. What we discovered was that the number of bullets and bullet casings do not match up.The location of these items can possibly help us see where the bullets were fired from. That’s 6 casings and 4 bullets if you count the bullet in the basement (Item 45) which did not have DNA on it. One could argue 6 casings and 5 bullets were found if you include Item 31. However, Item 31 is not listed as a bullet, but a “bullet fragment.” If you include the unspent round (Item 7) then you can manipulate those numbers to argue 7 casings and 6 bullets found at the crime scene. Yet you would still have two problems. The first problem is obviously the number of cartridges and casings found at the scene on January 17th, 2015 do not match up. The second problem is Detective McKnight reported investigators “knew that we could not account for several bullets that may have been fired from the gun used.” Several is the key word there. So, even if you include the bullet that rolled out of the carpet on January 20th, 2015 (due to cleaners informing police) and the bullet in the attic police were informed about on February 18th, 2015, the numbers still do not match up. That may be confusing, but it is a very important point. If the casings and bullets found in total do not match, then we have evidence of a missing item or an additional item. In the end, the facts show authorities left the crime scene knowing they could not account for several bullets missing from the crime scene.
