Heavy rain, hail hits parts of Ontario as storm system moves through region

A storm system with the potential for severe weather passed through parts of southern and eastern Ontario on Thursday, bringing with it heavy rain and hail to parts of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area — though the city of Toronto did not see as much of an impact.

The storm moved eastwards after it passed through the GTHA, causing some damage in areas like Cobourg. There have been some reports of a potential tornado from Belleville, though they have not yet been confirmed.

Anthony Farnell from Global News says there were still some storms also being tracked Thursday evening into southern Quebec, but the "all clear" had been given for the Toronto area.
