Today we are joined by Lathen Gorbett. Lathen is a multimedia storyteller, journalist and creator. Lathen recently released his long awaited docuseries ‘Bridge to Table’. Created as a way to counter the sensationalized headlines about Portland during the BLM protests and pandemic in the summer of 2020, ‘Bridge to Table’ features some of Portland’s best restaurant people who give their own accounts of what the two years after Covid first shut down the city was like. They discuss the rich culture of Portland’s food scene and the difficulty of handling the pandemic, the regulations by the local government, the uncertainty of the virus and their own economic well being, as well as the riots and the 100 days of protest in downtown.
Gorbett has always felt called to use entertainment that promotes interesting and healthy dialogue to break down social barriers. To use Lathen’s own words: “…the human condition is the basis for anything of meaning to us…as humans.” You can find more about Lathen and his work at his official website LathenGorbet.com.
