Michigan salmon fishing 2020 has been great So far this season I landed 6 king salmon and 5 coho salmon making this my best year of salmon fishing since I began targeting salmon less than 5 years ago. The 2020 fall salmon run was different than the last few years and I tracked the fall run hard early in the season and got my first coho early in the season. Then I want to The Betsie River with my buddy Jason Marr and we hooked into about 100 king salmon each over 4 days. We learned a lot over those 4 days and this was from the last night we were there fishing The Betsie River. This will most likely be my last King salmon fishing video of 2020 but there is a chance I could catch another coho before the end of this month but I have basically moved on to targeting steelhead for the remainder of 2020.
Regardless of what I target you can count on me to release more michigan fishing videos! For more Michigan fishing videos and more salmon slamin fishing action make sure to subscribe!

The Homestead Dam was originally constructed for hydroelectric power, and decommissioned in the late 1960’s. The dam’s superstructure was then removed, and the spillway was rebuilt in 1979 to allow for limited fish passage. The Homestead Dam consists of a 60- foot long steel sheet piling spillway with 25-foot earth fill sections on either side. The total length of the dam is 110 feet. There are two spillway crests within the spillway section, each with a length of 29.5 feet. The left crest is a single drop down to the tailwater area. The right crest has two sheet piling crests to create steps, and a resting pool for fish. The height of the Homestead Dam is approximately 13.4 feet, with a head of approximately 8 feet.
The Betsie River Access Site located at the Homestead Dam, in Benzonia Township of Benzie County, is a popular access point for kayakers, salmon anglers, and steelhead anglers. This Department of Natural Resources Assess site provides 50 parking spaces, vault toilets and a carry-down launching area. Paddlers on the Betsie River must use this site in order to portage the Homestead Dam. This site does not have an improved ramp and is suitable for car-top boats, kayaks and canoes only.

Reel Michigan Anglers is a personal passion and my gift to fellow fisherman. In the future I hope to do more informational fishing videos and cover different types of fishing all across the great state of Michigan. My goal, time permitting is to fish as many different bodies of water for as many different fish species as I can get try hands on. I am a lansing michigan resident working towards transferring to MSU for Fisheries and wildlife. My goal is to expand operations and bring more educational and entertaining fishing videos to my subscribers. In the meantime you can count on me for the occasional video outlining the the techniques and areas I fish for Bass, Pike, Walleye, Steelhead, Salmon, Trout, Carp, Suckers, Catfish and Panfish ect. You can see additional videos and other fun fishing related info on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... I Wouldn't be the fisherman I am today without other fisherman who taught me the things I know and I am a firm believer that the sport and conservation of fishing in Michigan is better when we share it with one another. Wether your trying to lean a new spot to fish, a new crank bait to try, advise on what fishing rod to use, what fishing line to use, what color spinner a coho likes, what color jig a steelhead prefers, how to rig live bait, match the hatch, understand fish migration, the effects of barometric pressure or any other aspect of fishing the best way to learn is from other fisherman. That combined with trial and error and pure time spent on the water is the key to improving your fishing game. The better you get the more fun it is and the more we share the fun with others the more future generations will benefit from it.
