Ecuador’s Indigenous Protests and the Truth About Energy Politics

Hola! It's deju vu all over again. The indigenous are blocking roads and effectively shutting down the country, just as they did in 2019, and for the same reasons. Rocketing oil prices are more than Ecuador's already impoverished indigenous population can bear. They have promised to continue blocking roads and bringing Ecuador's economy to a grinding halt until gas prices are reduced.
And this brings us t the core of the issue; the complete and utter fallacy that presidents, in the US or any other non/communist society, have but miniscule influence on the price of crude. This is misdirection at its most obvious.
Its time for a little bit of clarity. And a lot of action.
