NATO Chief Backs 'More Heavy Weapons' For Ukraine As Zelensky Admits 'Painful Losses' Against Russia

Ukrainian troops have suffered setbacks on multiple frontlines in the Donbas region on Day 112 of the war. Ukrainian troops have been pushed back further in Severodonetsk as they try to manage the evacuation of civilians from the city. Russia has pledged to spend the day evacuating civilians from a chemical plant in Severodonetsk. Ukraine claims that it repelled Russian attacks in Donetsk’s Berestove village on June 14. Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai has said Russian troops now control 80% of the fiercely contested Severodonetsk city. Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine is suffering painful losses in Kharkiv. Despite retaking Kharkiv from Russian troops, Ukraine is facing heavy shelling in the region. Zelensky has again called on the West to send his forces “more modern anti-missile systems”. A top US Pentagon official claims that Putin likely still wants to capture much, if not all, of Ukraine. Biden said he is working closely with allies to build temporary grain silos along the Ukraine border. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the West needs to send Ukraine "more heavy weapons" as it battles Russia.
