Chris Cheng: Recall Elections & Concealed Carry Essential For Survival
Chris Cheng from the Second Amendment Foundation's Board of Trustees, sat down with the Bill McIntosh Show to talk about the stunning recall of Democrat San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, crushed in a recall election by angry voters a few days ago and the importance of constitutional carry. The recent news of the under reported mass shooting in Philadelphia that left 3 dead and 13 injured and the need to intervene before potentially violent individuals can unleash a mass shooting event were also topics driving the conversation.
Cheng is the History Channel’s Top Shot Season 4 Champion, author of the book Shoot to Win and is a former Google employee who went from self-taught amateur to pro shooter and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. San Francisco is America's current poster city for leftist run cities in societal collapse suffering from out of control crime and gratuitous violence. The recall of their District Attorney Chesa Boudin is a shot across the bow of America's "progressive" leadership that their political ambitions are on deck to be additional targets of angry people spanning the political divide. How much longer can these Democrat leaders ignore public safety when a daily feature of big city life is frequent wanton violence, lawless streets and homeless populations made up of large numbers of dangerous psychotics? This is a basic result of disempowering law enforcement from doing their jobs. Cheng commented and it’s downright shameful:
" ...the past three years. It's just been an acceleration of terrible inhumane conditions. human feces, urine, homelessness, tent encampments, open drug use drug needles, you know open drug dealing, right, and the police come by and, you know, they're they're not empowered to arrest them. And they also know that if they arrest drug dealers, the district attorney wasn't going to press charges wasn't going to prosecute. So, I mean, it's been a really terrible situation.... we have seen unprecedented rise in assaults in the city…and it's been targeted against Asian Americans. You know, these criminals, some of them are literally racist and are targeting Asian Americans like me, and my, you know, my friends and my family and other Asian members of the San Francisco Bay Area community and they're attacking them and you know, this is not like robbery, right? It's not like their money for drugs. They don't want money. They literally just want to inflict pain and suffering. And the DA has not done a full court press and prosecuted these criminals to the full extent of the law. You know, he brought in a whole wave of progressive policies like trying to reduce the number of people, you know, being arrested and going in going to jail. early release. I mean, it was this revolving door of criminals just you know, coming back out in the streets. And you we've had all sorts of increase in, you know, car break ins, vandalism, burglary, drug addiction, and dealing in all sorts of street activity in our district attorney, who thankfully we just recalled by a 20 point margin was gone."
Constitutional Carry and the June 4th South Street shooting incident in Philadelphia in which thirteen people were wounded and three killed was also discussed. The melee saw as many as five shooters opening fire on a crowd. The assailants were confronted and repelled by Philadelphia Police who opened fire. During a ten day period in Philly between late May and early June, 94 people were shot according to the Philadelphia Inquirer*. How many of these shootings involved legitimate self-defense vs. gang violence and thuggery is unclear but certainly those sowing mayhem in the birth place of our nation care not a whit about gun control legislation yet their carnage provides free TV advertising for politicians to appear on the news and claim a need for more gun laws. Chris Cheng remarked:
"We live in a world of rules of laws, and we're gonna follow them to the best of our ability. Now, the bad guys, right? They're not they don't care about concealed carry laws, right, they are literally going to conceal a right and no open carry a firearm right, regardless of what the law is. So you know, it's this, it's always this interesting dynamic of right, law abiding citizens, right. And, of course, here we are in the larger gun debate, right, that we're debating potential gun control laws, that only law abiding citizens would follow. Not obviously, not all law abiding citizens, we would follow an unconstitutional restriction on the Second Amendment... But the bad guys aren't. And that's really the point, right? We can, we can try and legislate all we want. But we're not going to legislate our way out of this problem…When you have bad guys, we're not going to follow the rules. We cannot craft legislation that's going to that's going to affect the hearts and minds of the bad guys. Because, for me, fundamentally, the violence that we're seeing in our country is at its core, not a gun problem….The guns aren't causing people to be violent. Of course, they are tools. Of course, there are tools, right, that are enabling violence, but it's not the presence of the gun that's making somebody evil…this is a people problem that we need to provide mental health and community support and resources to try and intervene and stop these individuals from committing crimes in the first place. "
Is it so bold to conclude that it’s not guns on the street that is the problem but violent felons on the streets who need to be imprisoned, locked up and taught job skills and given help to deal with their traumas and violent tendencies? Perps not getting prison time and innocent citizens getting victimized by them is an unacceptable condition that can be reversed by concealed carry; recalling bad judges and bad District Attorneys and by big tech platforms ceasing their persecution of conservatives and focusing instead on violent individuals across America exhibiting a desire for mass carnage on their social media postings, to be identified and subjected to intervention.
