The Laughable Priorities of the Left

The January 6th Committee is holding its second hearing as the stock market is tanking and our nation’s capital is almost in a lockdown as protesters surround the U.S. Supreme Court.
The number of people in Washington D.C. today is staggering. We couldn’t even open our office there and had to ask our team to work from home because of the crowds and additional security measures. Fortunately, despite the attempts of protesters to shut down the Supreme Court, the Justices are working today, issuing opinions and carrying out their duties.
Meanwhile across the street from the Supreme Court and our office, at the U.S. Capitol, the second round of hearings for the Congressional January 6th Committee is being conducted. To be clear, Congress is entitled to hold whatever hearings it deems necessary. The problem is, while they’re focused on an event that happened a year and a half ago, the stock market is plummeting. At the time we went on the air, the DOW was down almost 700 points.
Gas prices are skyrocketing to record highs. In some places, a gallon of gas is nearly more than the minimum hourly wage, and the Left’s answer is we should all buy electric cars. And don’t forget we’re still experiencing a baby formula shortage. Imagine the fear and anxiety parents of infants are living with right now. And President Biden is essentially begging foreign governments to send us formula to help us deal with a problem he caused.
And by the way, though it never made the lead story on most mainstream media outlets, we told you about the assassination attempt against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh because of the controversial leaked draft opinion. The suspect arrived with a knife and a gun and freely told authorities he was there to kill Justice Kavanaugh, and yet the Left is refusing to call it an “assassination attempt.” This is political gaslighting at its worst. Of course, hours later, there were pro-abortion Leftist protesters back in front of Justice Kavanaugh’s house. It’s sickening.
Our country is in a serious mess right now. The Biden Administration continues to play a distraction game, passing the blame, and simply shrugging its shoulders as things get worse. This week it’s the January 6th circus. And as we said, they’re welcome to have all the hearings they want. But it would certainly be better if they would hold a hearing focused on one of the many important issues affecting Americans.
As ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou spelled it out:
"Hearings are wonderful things. Go ahead and have hearings. But how about having hearings on the question of gas and opening the pipeline, and having leases, and having drilling to take place in the West, and on the Great Plains? How about having hearings on the food prices, and the fact that you’re paying $8, and $9, and $10 dollars a gallon for diesel? How about having hearings on things that matter to the American public?
How about having a hearing, (Attorney General) Merrick Garland . . . when there’s an assassination attempt on a Supreme Court Justice? Would that have happened? Would he just be sitting in Washington doing nothing if it was Justice Sotomayor or Justice Kagan? Is it because Brett Kavanaugh is a conservative Justice? … I’m tired of it."
We’re all tired of it.
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast is complete with even more in-depth discussion of the January 6th hearings. We’re also joined by ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs and former Sec. of State Mike Pompeo to discuss the ACLJ’s ongoing work to get Nigeria back on a critical government watchlist and defend innocent Christians from deadly persecution.
