American Expat 68: Thankful

Thanksgiving is here, but I am finding myself missing my life back in China. Its something that inevitably happens to an expat when they decide to return to their home country. For me it has usually taken a week to start missing my life back in Asia, but this time it took two months.

To make matters worse, my mother in law is begging me to take my son to visit her. I really feel bad about it, but its just not possible now with COVID restrictions. Looking at how things are going, Im afraid it will be a while before we ever get to see our family back in China.

In the meantime, its thanksgiving, and that means cooking food, and it also means the local market is sold out of toilet paper for some reason...
