LAPD Shooting Southeast Area - Shooting Happens Within Seconds Of Contact - Was It Justified?

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) released body camera footage and surveillance footage of a officer involved shooting that leaves one dead.

On October 14, 2020, around 9:50 p.m., LAPD Southeast Division patrol officers were in the area of 111th Street and Figueroa Street. They saw a 23-year-old man standing in a parking lot of a gas station, pointing a handgun at people seated in a vehicle. The officers pulled their patrol car into the parking lot, exited, and told him to put the handgun down. He did not follow the officers' directions, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and determined the suspect had died at the scene. The suspects loaded handgun was located at scene and recovered as evidence.

No officers or innocent bystanders were injured during the incident.
