Open Your Eyes - Francis Maxino - TV Studio Performance

This is a song I wrote in the late 1990s entitled, 'Open Your Eyes'.
Open Your Eyes, among other things, is about trying to reluctantly conform to the status quo, the difficulty being regarding the social structure and system in which you are attempting to fit into being completely at odds at what you believe how a fair, sane and enlightened society ideally should ideally be.
This song calls out for people to open their eyes and bare witness to what is and also for an opening of their hearts with compassion to feel another, caring, way (as opposed to the self-serving, egocentric, reptillian survival instinct), that is dynamically motivated by wishing to serve our fellow human beings with kindness and respect in the spirit of loving support in order to build a more caring and compassionate world.

Back when I wrote the song I was campaigning on many fronts for progressive reforms and also an activist trying to alongside other like minded people to;
- Make New Zealand a Nuclear Free nation.
- Stopping the clearfelling of ancient Rimu forests on the West Coast
- Raise awareness of the dangers of 1080 and the threat to Kea and other native species like insects and excess fluoride contamination it poses.
- Promoting Tibetan human and spiritual rights to practice their culture and religion in their own land and support for their government in exile that includes His Holiness the Dalai Lama and their former theocratic government.
- Raise awareness of 'Echelon' and the five eyes surveillance state spying on and recording every citizens phone call or electronic communications (a breach of citizen's right to privacy).
- Trying to raise awareness of the historically proven health dangers that the microwave bandwidths of transceiving frequencies like 3G, 4G and wi-fi pose from long term exposure.
- Campaigning for legalisation of cannabis
- Playing music at world peace events.

It was videographed and recorded by the kind and excellent work of the crew at CATV (Community Access Television), a local TV production and training studio in Canterbury New Zealand. This song was broadcast on CTV (Canterbury Television).
