How-to Lesson Part 1- Time To Have A Ball

A proper tennis stroke must be slow and measured at first. The new player tends to swing too hard and fast. The strings on the racket supply the power the stroke. A new player tends to slap at the ball which contacts the ball, but it has little control. If a new player has watched advanced players hit the tennis ball on television, it looks like a slap. However, it is a controlled push. New players start out pushing the ball very slowly to give the tennis strings a chance to work by gripping and flinging the ball forward. As the new player advances from the beginning levels to the intermediate and advanced levels, they learn how to push the tennis ball faster and faster with the racket to get the proper mix of power and control.
