“Duck” is a generic term for waterfowl anseriform, with short neck, large flattened yellow beak, very short webbed feet and long pointed wings, domesticated or not1,2,3.

They are mostly part of the Anatidae family. This word designates species that do not necessarily have a vernacular name containing the term duck. Indeed, certain species qualified as ducks are designated by vernacular names including terms such as whistling ducks, teals, shelducks4 or brewers. The wild duck is a migratory bird. It is from the Mallard that many breeds of domestic ducks are derived.
