Summit of the Americas: Ceremony for migration declaration – June 10, 2022

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is among the leaders taking part in a presentation ceremony at the Summit of the Americas for the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection. Canada joins other countries in signing onto the declaration to address irregular migration from Latin America and the Caribbean. Canada has agreed to accept up to 4,000 migrants from Latin America by 2028 and to invest $26.9 million in 2022-23 toward migration- and protection-related capacity building in the Americas.
