After daily predictions of rain leading up to the event, rain stopped just before 9am, the sky cleared up and sunshine came streaming down like a sign from Heaven. Good thing, too, because they didn’t have enough tents at Interfaith Food Ministry to cover all the goodies we delivered.

Music: “Going Down” by the Jeff Beck Group on their Beckology album, recorded in 1972.
Jeff Beck, Cozy Powell on drums, Clive Chaman, and Max Middleton on piano.
Originally written and produced by Don Nix in 1969, this might be the best known version of a song covered by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn, Savoy Brown, The Rolling Stones and over 50 other bands, possibly the most copied rock tune ever and oddly appropriate to circumstances in 2020.

This year’s Nevada County Food and Toy Run wasn’t quite the same event we’ve come to expect over the years. No coffee, no donuts, no cops, few volunteers, and a smaller turnout than usual, but the ride went without a hitch. Christmas would have been cancelled for a lot of families, were it not for the determination of Thom Staser to see it thru and deliver as he’s done for nearly 30 years.

Shame on Nevada County, on Governor Nuisance, and on all the soul-sucking bureaucrats that attempted to cancel Christmas. Bravo to all who ignore them and choose life over fear, shutdown and depression.
