MAN Truck & Bus presents its new all-electric bus model, the articulated 18 meter long MAN Lion’s City 18 E, which has been available for order since April, joining the standard MAN Lion’s City 12 E.

The latest model can take up to 120 passengers and is equipped with a huge 640 kWh battery for at least 200 km (124 miles) of range (and up to 270 km/168 miles in favorable conditions) over the entire service life of the battery. Taking into consideration the battery, we assume that the 200 km range is just a bare minimum in the worst-case scenario.

An interesting thing is also that MAN decided to use two electric central motors and two driven axles (2nd and 3rd), assuming it will be better than electric motors positioned close to the wheel hubs.

MAN Lion’s City 18 E specs:

range of 200 km (124 miles) (and up to 270 km/168 miles in favorable conditions) over the entire service life of the battery
640 kWh battery (NMC lithium-ion cells) - total of eight battery packs on the roof
two electric central motors and two driven axles (2nd and 3rd)
system output of 320 kW continuous and 480 kW peak
DC fast charging at up to 150 kW in about four hours
up to 120 passengers, when assuming a higher permissible gross weight of up to 30 tonnes
18-meter long
