LIFE IS SHORT

Come now, you who say,
"Today or tomorrow let's go into this city,
and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit."
Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow.
For what is your life?
For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time,
and then vanishes away.
For you ought to say,
"If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that."
But now you glory in your boasting.
All such boasting is evil.

Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life,
isn't the Father's,
but is the world's.
The world is passing away with its lusts,
but he who does God's will remains forever.
(1 John 2)

But the heavens that now are, and the earth,
by the same word have been stored up for fire,
being reserved against the day of judgment
and destruction of ungodly men.
Therefore since all these things are thus to be destroyed,
what manner of persons ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God,
by reason of which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved,
and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
