1 Corinthians 1:26-31 [CSB]
26 Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.

o Wise – Powerful – Noble Birth: Remarkable
 Educated/Expert, Influential, Connected, Wealthy,
• Christianity didn’t appeal to those people (in large numbers) at first… Because those people [think] they’ve got it all together … From the worldly perspective

27 Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. 28 God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,

o CHOSEN: Called
 Moses – Stuttering Man-slaughterer
 David – least among his brothers
 Jesus – Baby, poor, from nowhere special,
• Tamar – Rehab – Ruth – Bathsheba – Mary …
o It pleases God to show up the world!
 GOD’S GLORY – [Magnificent God]

29 so that no one may boast in his presence.

o Ephesians 2:8-9 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
 All Glory Laud and Honor - To You Redeemer King

30 It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption—

o John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”
 CHRIST OUR: Savior – Sanctifier – Healer – Coming King

31 in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

o Jeremiah 9:23-24 “23 Thus says the Lord, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; 24 but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
