Governor Abbott Directs DFPS To Investigate Gender-Transitioning Procedures As Child Abuse

Governor Greg Abbott today sent a letter to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) directing the agency to conduct prompt and thorough investigations of any reported instances of Texas children being subjected to abusive gender-transitioning procedures. The directive comes after the Office of the Attorney General confirmed that a number of so-called “sex-change” procedures for minors already constitute child abuse under existing Texas law.

Letting Children Transition is Child Abuse Says American College of Pediatricians

The College's statement includes such triggering points as:

1. Human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait: “XY” and “XX” are genetic markers of male and female, respectively – not genetic markers of a disorder.

2. No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one.

3. A person’s belief that he or she is something they are not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking.

And my favorite:

4. Puberty is not a disease and puberty-blocking hormones can be dangerous.

Hidden Taxes: How Much do You Really Pay?

When politicians debate tax rates they usually focus on federal income taxes. But despite all the attention given to income taxes, they are just a fraction of the total taxes Americans bear. In fact, total personal income taxes represent much less than half (42 percent) of Americans’ tax burden. 1

This paper identifies $657.5 billion in additional “hidden” taxes, or $2,462 in hidden taxes per person.2 These hidden taxes violate a basic principle of taxation — that taxes should be visible to the people who pay them. If people don’t accurately perceive how much government policies cost them, then how can they make informed decisions in our democratic process?
