The CEO of Epic Games admits that the popular computer game Fortnite does not have an official cryptocurrency. Tim Sweeney also expresses copyright and trademark issues about fan-created tokens, arguing that they illegally use the game's aesthetics and brand. “There isn’t a Fortnite cryptocurrency. The Twitter accounts promoting such a thing are a scam. Epic’s lawyers are on it. Also, shame on the cryptocurrency marketplaces that enable this kind of thing,” says Sweeney. The token team denies being a scam scheme shortly after Sweeney's tweet. "Fortnite Token isn’t a scam cryptocurrency project." The Fortnite Token team, on the other hand, touts it as a "fair-launch, community-driven, Fortnite game fans-created cryptocurrency project with no specified owner or company structure behind it or a CEO deciding on its future."
