Catholicism and Marijuana Part I investigates what is the Catholic Church's teachings about recreational drug use found in the documents of the Magisterium to argue that: 1) drug use for any non-medical purpose is a mortal sin; 2) marijuana falls under this same condemnation, hence it is immoral to use marijuana except for medical purposes; 3) the movements to legalize and liberalize drug use is evil; and 4) smoking marijuana is immoral regardless of one's intention.
