We Need Silence and Solitude for a Deeper Spirituality in These Crazy Times

My devotional in the middle of Times Square NYC on silence. More then ever in this crazy world we live in we need the spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude. These are found in the contemplative stream of Christianity. To find out more check Richard Foster's book "Streams of Living Waters. Yet in Evangelical and Charismatic churches you almost never see these spiritual disciplines practiced. It is part of the reason our Christian cultures are so swallow. We saw the biggest non denominational church in Hillsong crumble in front of our eyes. Because of modern Christian cultures are not working and we need new solutions. I tell a story from Rob Reimers book "Soul Care" in which he was struggling with Anxiety and nothing would help. He started sitting in silence with god meditating on the verse "He Restores My Soul". Within three months God healed him completely.
